Oberkapfenberg castle
The medieval Oberkapfenberg castle is situated near our hotel and has an impressive history. Today, it’s a beloved destination. Visitors embark on a virtual journey through time and meet crusaders and alchemists or admire the falconry’s birds of prey show. Other attractions include crossbow shooting, performances by medieval musicians, and the knights’ banquet.
Once a year, Oberkapfenberg castle becomes the location of the legendary Knights’ festival. With over 400 participants from seven nations, visitors can enjoy medieval flair with showmen and women, culinary delights, and impressive tours and demonstrations.

Green Lake
The name itself is a guarantee: The vibrant green of the water is a unique natural spectacle. The lake fills up with crystal-clear meltwater every year after the snow melts, flooding the surrounding hiking trails and benches. Thanks to its wind-protected location, the surface of the lake is usually as smooth as glass. The ideal time to visit it is early summer. In autumn, the lake dries out almost completely.

Lake Leopoldsteinersee
A hidden natural jewel: The untouched Lake Leopoldsteinersee is situated at the foot of the Seemauer in the western Hochschwab mountain range. Visitors are astounded by its natural beauty. In summer, you can rent a rowing boat or swim in its cold water. In winter, you can have fun ice-skating on the lake.

Bründlweg circular trail
Bründlweg circular trail leads through the dreamlike landscapes around Pogusch Alpine pass. Water is its most characteristic element. The region has been cared for and cultivated by farmers for many generations. Along the way, you’ll find numerous opportunities to stop for a break at rustic inns, where you’ll be served traditional delicacies.

This bathing experience in Kapfenberg is a beloved meeting point for young and old. Sport enthusiasts can swim in the 25-metre pool, while massage jets and whirlpool loungers relax tired muscles in the wellness pool. Kids will enjoy the large water slide and children’s pool. In summer, the sunbathing lawn is simply perfect for sleeping, reading, or chatting. Especially relaxing: the adjoining sauna landscape.

The idyllically situated lake with drinking water quality and swimming jetties gives you pure bathing fun. On the shore, you’ll find a groomed sunbathing lawn, but also a playground and a beach volleyball field.

Mürzer Oberland Nature Park
This nature park is worth a visit in both winter and summer. Here, you’ll have plenty of activities to choose from, such as ice-skating, ice-climbing, fly fishing, horse-riding, and mountain biking. The nature park combines nature protection with education, regeneration, and regional development in a marvellous way. Besides the incredible landscape, Neuberg Abbey with its Minster and the Kaiserhof glass factory with its show glass-blowing workshop are also well worth a visit.

Spielberg project
The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, once known as the “Österreichring”, was long regarded as the fastest racetrack in Formula 1. Although the track has meanwhile been redesigned, it still guarantees plenty of adrenaline for motorsport fans. Here you can be the driver yourself, and choose between a sports car, a motorbike, or even a go-kart.

Eisenerz Ramsau centre
The Eisenerz Ramsau cross-country skiing centre impresses with a picturesque location and guaranteed snow until spring. The varied ski trails at a sunny altitude are ideal for both beginners and pros. Even internationally acclaimed athletes train here.

The small village of Mariazell is known worldwide and is the most important pilgrimage village in Central Europe. The Marian sanctuary, the impressive basilica, welcomes numerous pilgrims every year. Hike to Lake Sackwiesensee
This moderately difficult hike leads through idyllic forests and along an Alpine trail to Häuslalm hut and then to Lake Sackwiesensee. This is highest and yet warmest lake in the region. After your hike, we recommend a visit to Hochschwab museum at Bodenbauer.

Wilde Berg Mautern Park
In Mautern wild park, you’ll experience the Alpine fauna up close. Over 300 Alpine animals have found a home for themselves here at 1,100m above sea level. Owls, ibexes, lynxes, goats, and even wolves and bears. At the birds of prey show, you can marvel at the flying skills of falcons, eagles, and vultures. Young guests particularly love the playground and the children’s farm.
